Clinical Analysis of Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Abstract
the authors analyzed retrospectively 341 cases of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhages between August 1989 and December 1994 according to their etiologies, location and amount of hematoma, and associated clinical symptoms and signs, treatments
and
their results. The etiologies of intracranial hemorrhage were hypertension, aneurysmal rupture, arteriovenous malformation and Moya Moya disease, in order of frequency and the locations of hematoma were putamen, subcortex, thalamus, cerebellum,
brain
stem and multiple extension in order of frequency. Associated symptoms and signs of intracerebral hemorrhage were mental change, hemiparesis, speech disturbance, etc. medical and surgical treatments were performed and their results were similar.
Of
the
medical treatment cases (65.7% of total cases), 66.5% were improved and 16.5% of these were worsened than initial condition. In the cases of surgical treatment, no difference was seen between early and late operation group. mortality rate was
14.7%
of
total cases and the etiologies were brain swelling, ARDS, hear failure, sepsis, postoperative rebleeding, DIC and upper GI bleeding.
